Glenda is a self-taught artist painting in oils and layering her work with other mediums. First using a brush to paint, she then interacts with the mediums through scraping, scratching, printing and stencilling, creating semi abstract works based on her observations of the landscape and the people she meets.
Using bright and saturated colour, often combined with more muted tones, her paintings involve a physicality stemming from both the size of the canvas and the way she applies paint. Her process allows her body to respond with both sweeping movements and the calmer rhythm of making smaller marks. Incorporating pattern also allows her to explore and disrupt shapes and lines to create asymmetrical beauty and dynamic energy in each work.
Glenda regularly runs workshops at the Gallery including Starting Point which encourages participants to explore key art principles in engaging ways.
